Make Models Unforgettable Themes work for Disney. They can work for you. After a day of model-hopping, how will buyers remember your homes? To leave a lasting impression, Lori and John Lober took to creating theme homes. The concept may be a tried-and-true in large markets, but it's new in Kansas City, MO., where Lober builds about 35 homes yearly. And in other similarly sized areas, it's sure to give a builder an edge.
"I can guarantee that everyone in our market knows our homes," says company president John Lober, who specializes in building homes ranging from $350,000 to $500,000.
The Lobers' first theme home was finished last fall and won their local HBA's design competition. Tapping into the company's trademark of "timeless quality," the home was chock-full of clocks. They continued the clock motif in their Italian, French, Nature and Casablanca theme homes. Lori Lober, a long-time MIRM, does all the decorating, right down to finding tree limbs for the Nature house's curtain rods.
Outside its homes, the company beefed up the landscaping. John Lober found that using mature plants makes a dramatic difference in how his homes show compared with others in a community and in making the sale.
